Manchester United Eye Juventus Defender Giorgio Chiellini

Manchester United are weighing up the idea of moving for Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, according to Tuttosport.

Nemanja Vidic's possible departure - he is being linked with Manchester City and Real Madrid - could prompt Sir Alex Ferguson into looking at the Italian international.

Despite his stature with Juventus as one of the club's leading defenders, no one in Turin is guaranteed a stay. A €20 million offer from United would be enough to tempt the club into parting company.

Rumours suggest United would be ready to offer Chiellini €3.5m per annum, an increase on his current €2m at Juventus.

Chiellini's agent Davide Lippi recently moaned that his client deserved top player wages, prompting director Giuseppe Marotta to call a meeting with him.

However, any offer from United may see Juventus sell their man rather than increase his wages. The Italian club are working on Leonardo Bonucci according to Il Corriere dello Sport. His arrival from Genoa, who own him, could mean the Old Lady sanctions a Chiellini sale.
